It all began in 2001 at Joanna’s family Firestone auto shop in Waco, Texas. Chip walked in for routine car repairs and was captivated—not just by the service, but by Joanna’s photo on the wall. He later quipped, “I knew I'd marry her one day just by the picture.” Soon, they were stealing time together over fried chicken on a porch—a moment of magic that sparked everything.
Building Homes—And a Family
After their 2003 wedding, Joanna brought her design intuition to Chip’s renovation business. Their first venture emerged organically: Magnolia Market, where every item told a story. Joanna reflected on the spark that grounded their relationship: “You bloomed? I did. If I hadn’t married Chip, I might not have ever bloomed.”
